No relief seems to be in sight.
(CNN) -- Gas prices rose more than 3 cents per gallon over the past two weeks, to a national average of $2.33, a survey of U.S. filling stations found Sunday.
That's an increase of nearly 20 cents per gallon in the price of gasoline since December 2, according to the Lundberg Survey, which tallied prices January 20 and January 6 at about 7,000 stations in all 50 states.
Further price increases over the short-term are likely, survey publisher Trilby Lundberg said.
"The gas market has been playing catch-up with the crude oil price increases and still has several pennies to go," she said.
Nervousness among oil traders over headlines coming out of three oil-producing countries -- Iran, Nigeria and Venezuela -- have increased upward pressures in the futures markets, she said.
Iran has resumed its pursuit of nuclear energy in a move that the United States and other Western nations have interpreted as an attempt to build a nuclear weapon; the security situation in Nigeria has deteriorated; and Venezuela has tightened conditions for oil companies to do business in the country.
Prices have been further driven up by two recent government-mandated fuel reformulations and a requirement that corn-based ethanol be added to some gasoline, Lundberg said. Those steps make the process of refining gasoline more expensive, she said.
Upward pressures are likely to continue, Lundberg said. January is the year's lowest-consumption month for gasoline, and increased demand in coming months is expected to add to price pressures.
Drivers in Portland, Oregon, paid the least, at $2.10 per gallon of self-serve regular; Honolulu, Hawaii, drivers paid the most, at $2.80, the survey found.

Gas prices suck. I also would like to know one thing, and I dont mean to be rude to anyone, but why do we continue to bitch about gas prices? We all know, regardless of the price, we are going to pay for it. Granted I dont like them as much as you all do, but I have to pay regardless of the price.
I agree Burton. Unless theres a dramactic change in gas prices too we arent going to be saving very much money. Maybe its a few less donuts, or hamburgers a week. It could actually be good for our health. j/k

I'm going to say it and it will cause an argument: Oil stock-owning leaders in America will cause gas prices to go up. Basic economics until politics gets factored in...

Gotta have something to bitch about, its just my personality. I figure we bitch about more than enough useless stuff on here, I think the gas price situation is one of the more important issues because it literally affects almost everyone in the country.

Nope man, just took half a point and worked half a day. Having one day off this week wore me out, well it at least hurt my sleep time.
Dude we might have to end up changing schedules, especially if your "plan" doesnt work about going in at your normal time. haha

Try it this week, if they say something tell them you looked at the wrong schedule. If we have to, we can trade schedules. Im sick of working 10-7 anyways, because I always end up going home after work then going back to the gym because the gym is always packed when I get off. Around 9 it dies down anyways.
Of course do you really want weds, and thrusdays off? lol I guess ill see what thats like this week.
